ITINERARY

Vietnam   -  10 days 9 nights

DAY 1: HANOI ARRIVAL

Upon arrival, a local guide with your private driver will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.

Note: Normal check in time for hotels is 14:00

Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 2: HALF DAY STREET FOOD TOUR WITH FOOD BLOGGER – HANOI CITY TOUR B, L

This morning you will join a local blogger for a fascinating street food tour of Hanoi's eateries.

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university built in the late 11th century , and the the fascinating Museum of Ethnology (closed on Mondays) which houses an extensive collection of traditional costumes and artefacts from Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups.

DAY 3: HANOI – HA LONG B, L, D

In the morning, leave Hanoi for Halong Bay, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site with its 3,000 islands of towering limestone dotting the bay and Gulf of Tonkin. 

Arrive at noon and proceed with check-in formalities. After a welcome onboard, lunch will be served while cruising towards the bay. In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and/or activities (depending on each boat’s itinerary) or just spend some time relaxing on board. Towards the end of the day the boat sets anchor for the night among the karst formations. Dinner is served on board.

DAY 4: HA LONG – HUE B

Early in the morning and depending on the season, you will wake up to enjoy the sunrise over the aquamarine waters of the bay. Breakfast is served on board (brunch on some boats) while the cruise will tour around the bay until you disembark at the end of the morning.

Then transfer back to Hanoi for a flight to Hue. 

Upon arrival, your guide will transfer to hotel in Hue.

DAY 5: HALF DAY CITY TOUR – DINNER AT THA OM RESTAURANT B, L

Start the tour at the Imperial Citadel of Hue where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 then continue to the Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s best-preserved religious monument. Have lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant. 

Afternoon time is free at leisure. 

End the day with a truly special dinner at Tha Om. At the home of Pham Ba Vinh, of royal heritage, be regaled with stories of the former Vietnamese royal family in the atmospheric replica of a 19th century Hue residence. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner in the beautiful gardens as the sun sets over the lotus ponds.

DAY 6: HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN B

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Da Nang via the Pass of Ocean Clouds and drop down to the wonderfully photogenic fishing village of Lang Co. 

On arrival in Danang, visit the Cham Museum, containing the finest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. Continue to Hoi An, a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries, whose architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years.

Transfer to the hotel.

DAY 7: HOI AN –COOKING SCHOOL EXPERIENCE & WALKING TOUR B, L

Today will start with a trip to Hoi An's bustling morning market where a local chef will introduce you to some of the key ingredients needed in order to create many of Vietnam's most admired dishes. After sourcing the ingredients you will accompany the chef back to the revered Red Bridge Cookery School. Spend cooking and sampling many Vietnamese favourites before returning to your hotel.

In the afternoon, take a short walking tour to explore Hoi An town. It was a major Asian trading port in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and its architecture and relaxed lifestyle have changed little over the years.

DAY 8: HOI AN – HO CHI MINH – CU CHI TUNNELS – EVENING FOOD TOUR BY VESPA B, L, D

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Da Nang airport for short flight to Ho Chi Minh city. 

Upon arrival, meet your guide and driver for transfer to Cu Chi.  A traditional Vietnamese lunch of local specialties will be served before your visit to the tunnels. Return back to Ho Chi Minh city in late afternoon.

This evening you will embark on a fascinating discovery through the streets of Saigon on the back of a Vespa. You will enjoy tasty street food, local music and a wonderful atmosphere. This will be a memorable evening and a real highlight before travelling home.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh

DAY 9: HO CHI MINH – MEKONG DELTA B, L

In the morning, you will be driven to Cai Be, board on a local boat along Mekong river with visits to family-run companies which make rice pancakes, puffed corn cookies and coconut milk candy. Enjoy lunch with specialties of the Mekong Delta in the ambience of an ancient house. After lunch, get on the cruise for a garden center, sample fruits, wine, traditional music and crossing Co Chien River. In the late afternoon, come back to Saigon.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh

DAY 10: HO CHI MINH – DEPARTURE B

Free at leisure until transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for your onward flight.
