ITINERARY

Laos   -  6days 5 nights

DAY 1: VIENTIANE – ARRIVAL

Upon arrival to Vientiane, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel.

Please note standard check-in time is 14:00.

Overnight in Vientiane.

DAY 2: VIENTIANE – CITY TOUR – LUANG PRABANG B, L

Take a half day visiting some of Vientiane’s landmarks: temples of Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Keo and Wat Simuang. Also visit the Arc de Triomphe-like Patuxai Victory Monument, a war monument dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. End the tour with a visit to That Luang, a large gold-covered Buddhist stupa in the centre of Vientiane. A lunch, Lao-style is served at a local restaurant.

After lunch, head to the airport for the flight north to Luang Prabang.

Upon arrival to Luang Prabang, pick up and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

DAY 3: LUANG PRABANG – CITY TOUR B, D

The city tour begins with a visit to the former Royal Palace, now is National Museum, and temples of Wat Mai, Wat Sensoukarahm, Wat Xieng Thong.

In the afternoon, visit Wat Visoun. Afterwards, pay a visit to the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre, a museum dedicated to exploring the rich diversity of Laos’ ethnic minorities. The museum’s display features traditional costumes, tools and artifacts alongside in-depth descriptions and written histories. (Note: closed on Monday).

In the evening, participate in a unique traditional Lao ceremony known as the Baci with the local community on the island. The Baci is performed in celebration of important events such as weddings, births, or for welcoming guests, and is a means of expressing goodwill and good luck to others.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

DAY 4: LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALLS B

For early risers, there is a very special dawn visit to watch the monks collecting the alms. As the sun begins to rise, long lines of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas and walk barefoot down the streets collecting offerings from Luang Prabang residents.

After breakfast at hotel, take 1 hour drive south of Luang Prabang, with stops at the vibrant Phousi Market and the nearby Ock Pop Tock Weaving Centre, a social enterprise working primarily in the field of textiles, handicrafts and design. Continue on to the waterfalls, and take a leisurely hike through the natural park past the Asian Bear Rescue Center. Swimming in the refreshing waters is possible, although between November and January the water temperature is very cool (please dress modestly). After lunch time, return to your hotel.

In late afternoon, climb the 328 stairs of Mount Phousi and watch the sun set over the city and surrounding hills. Visit the hill tribe evening market for some shopping. Then transfer back to your hotel or spend more time at the market.

DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVES – KAMU LODGE B, L, D

After breakfast, take a cruise upstream the Mekong river from Luang Prabang to Kamu Lodge. Marvel at the thousands of gold Buddha statues placed in sacred Pak Ou caves then have lunch in the middle of rice paddy fields. In the afternoon, enjoy the traditional Kamu lifestyle and their activities.

The Kamu Lodge features 20 private canvas tents, each which is protected from the elements by a thatched roof. The tents are also decorated with bamboo and wooden furniture allowing the Lodge's grounds to harmoniously blend with surrounding nature. They each feature private bathrooms with solar powered hot water and electricity.

DAY 4: KAMU LODGE – LUANG PRABANG – DEPARTURE B

After breakfast, board back to Luang Prabang and take a flight back home.
