Visa Exemption

E-Visa

The Laos government has launched an e-visa which allows citizens of 160 countries to apply for a Laos tourist visa online. Please find passport holders are eligible for the E-visa here

To apply for e-visa, applicants will need to prepare:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months past the last date of travel and has at least 2 continuous blank passport pages
  • One recent passportsized photo
  • Evisa fee ranges from 35 USD to 55 USD (Exc. Bank Charge Fee), depending on your nationality.  

The processing time will take around three business days. The validity of e-visa approval letter has 60 days from the issued date. Length of stay is 30 days from the date of arrival in Laos.

However, not all borders of Laos accept e-visa, please check your port of entry before applying. Here is the current port of entries which accept Laos e-visas:

  • Wattay International Airport
  • Lao Thai Friendship Bridge

  • A printed copy of your evisa must be presented at the airport upon arrival.  For more information, please visit their FAQ section here
  • Evisa is only valid for a single entry

Visa on arrival

Tourist visas can also be obtained upon arrival at the following international airport ports and border checkpoints:

  • Laos International Airports: Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Pakse and Savannakhet.
  • Border Checkpoints: ChinaLaos, Thailand-Laos, Vietnam-Laos, Cambodia-Laos. For the detailed list, please visit here.

Please be noted that Lao immigration authorities will stop issuing on-arrival visas from the below border checkpoints from the following dates:

Also note that not all foreign passport holders can apply for visa on arrival. Please check with your Laos Embassy or Laos Consulate for specific visa requirements. List countries that cannot get visa on arrival here.  

*If visiting from one of the above, Visas must be arranged prior to entering Laos.

To apply for visa on arrival, applicants will need to prepare:

  • Passport with a validity no less than six months and at least 2 blank pages
  • Two recent photos
  • Visa fee ranges from USD 20 to USD 42 (depending on your nationality) must be paid in cash and in US Dollars
  • A completed visa application form

VIP Service

If you have booked our VIP Airport Arrival Service, an airport representative will meet you as you disembark the aircraft. Please note that in any of the Lao airport, there is no VIP area and no airport staff to assist with your luggage.

In Luang Prabang International Airport, our representative will complete the immigration paperwork on your behalf and collect the luggage for you. You can leave after taking the photo at the immigration.

In Vientiane International Airport, our representative will complete the immigration paperwork on your behalf. You will collect your own luggage before leaving.
